The Canadian Virtual Hospice is a unique, web-based resource for people facing life-threatening and life-limiting circumstances, their families, volunteers, and healthcare providers. For the past decade, Virtual Hospice has provided information and support for people around the world grappling with issues related to death and dying. It has been a pioneer in e-health, offering Canadians access to an interdisciplinary team of palliative care professionals, to whom they can post specific questions and retrieve detailed and personalized responses. Virtual Hospice has supported healthcare providers of every discipline, enabling them to better meet the needs of patients and families, from coast to coast to coast. Further, Virtual Hospice has supported educators and students to help ensure a healthcare workforce skilled in palliative care. In so doing, Virtual Hospice has extended the reach and understanding of palliative care, and has touched the lives of millions.
